Warmth without sleeves
Most of the heat you lose from your torso leaves across the chest and the back, and a sleeve does very little about either. A vest covers exactly those surfaces, which is why it layers under a jacket better than a sweater does: no second sleeve inside the first, no bunching at the elbow, and the shirt cuff still where a shirt cuff should be.
The ribbing is the structure
A knit vest has no seams to hold its shape, so the ribbing does the work: a ribbed collar stops the neckline rolling, ribbed armholes keep the openings from sagging, and a ribbed hem stops the body riding up over a shirt. Knit a vest without them and it is a sack within a season.
Six of the eight colours
The stall lists eight colourways and photographs eight, but two of them are blues — 蓝色 and 上青 — and in its own photographs they are the pair hardest to tell apart. Rather than label a swatch with the wrong Chinese name, we have put the six colours we can name with certainty on the site and left the two blues off it. The composition is a claim, not a label: pure wool is what the stall says, and no percentage is printed anywhere.

Care
- Wool knitwear is washed by hand in cool water with a wool detergent, then dried flat — hanging a vest wet is what turns the armholes into hangers.
- Fold it rather than hanging it: a knit vest on a hanger grows at the shoulders within a season.
- Brush or air it between wearings and it will need washing far less often than you expect.
