Why a bomber holds its shape
The ribbed collar, cuffs and hem are knitted rather than woven, so they grip. That is why a bomber does not slide off the shoulder or flap at the waist the way an open overcoat does, and why the same jacket works with a shirt as well as with a heavy knit underneath.
Wool left with its texture
Cheap wool cloth is pressed and sheared until it looks like felt. Melton keeps the fibre visible, which reads as texture at arm’s length and hides the marks a smooth cloth would show after a winter of wear.
Two colours, five heights
The stall lists this jacket in grey and black, and sizes it by body height in five steps from 170 to 190 centimetres rather than by chest. That works for a bomber because the ribbed hem, not the chest, decides where it sits.

Care
- Brush wool melton rather than washing it: a stiff brush along the nap lifts dust out and puts the surface back.
- If it must be cleaned, have it dry cleaned, and ask for the ribbed knit to be blocked afterwards — knitted trims are the first thing to lose their spring.
- Hang it on a broad hanger with the zip closed, and give it a day to recover between wears.
