The Story

Why this object exists

Narrative · Reveal → Silhouette → Material → Detail → Lifestyle

Why a set, and not a pullover

On the platforms boutiques actually shop, the autumn unit stopped being a jumper and became a set. The reason is not complicated: a buyer looking at a knit wants to see what it goes with, and one photograph of a matching top and trouser answers that better than six photographs of a top with different skirts. It also solves a retail problem — the top sells a trouser and the trouser sells the top. This one is cut for a shop window rather than a loungewear rail: a proper collar, a half placket that closes, and a wide leg with enough length to hang.

Six colourways, one yarn

Khaki, light grey, dusty blue, black, off-white and brown, in S, M and L. For a shop buying a handful of a style, that is the useful part: three neutrals that always move and three that carry the season, from a single source and in a single yarn, so the rail looks deliberate rather than assembled. The maker photographs the worn set in eleven of the sixteen frames it publishes, which is roughly the opposite of the usual ratio — a buyer can see the drape before ordering anything.

What the yarn is not

It is not wool, and the page will not imply that it is because it looks like it. A core-spun yarn at 50% viscose, 30% polyester and 20% nylon is closer to a good track suit than to knitwear from a mill — it will not pill the way an acrylic does, it holds colour well, and it will not felt or shrink into a child’s size. What it will not do is the thing wool does, which is breathe and warm when damp. If your customer is buying a set for the shape and the colour, this is the right buy at this price; if they are buying for warmth, it is the wrong one, and that is worth saying out loud on the shelf.

Actually, why this one?

Why We Chose It

Because the two-piece knit set is the category that grew while the single pullover flattened, and because 8,002 sold at ¥89 is a repeat rate rather than a launch spike. The fibre is the part worth reading twice: it is viscose, polyester and nylon at a published 50/30/20, not wool, and the page says so instead of letting the photographs imply otherwise. At 1050 g for the set it has weight, the maker names Europe and the United States as its main market, and there is no watermark or badge on any of the fourteen frames it publishes.

Some figures for this piece are still being confirmed with the maker. We leave them out rather than guess — ask us and we will send the maker's own numbers.

Care

  • Cold machine wash inside out, low spin, and dry flat. A core-spun viscose blend stretches under its own weight when it is hung wet.
  • The trouser holds a crease along the front seam — hang it rather than folding it, and it needs no iron.
  • The maker publishes no care symbol and no fibre label. If you are retailing it, ask for both with the quote: a label naming the fibre is a legal requirement in most of the markets this piece is aimed at.

Packaging and presentation are confirmed in your written quote.
